Understanding OCD & Supporting Your Child's Journey


Format: Live online (2 × 90-minute sessions)

2nd & 9th of September 10am-12pm

Cost: €60 per family


Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is designed for parents and caregivers of children and teenagers who have OCD or are experiencing obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours. Whether your child has recently been diagnosed, is currently receiving treatment, or you simply want to better understand what they're experiencing, this workshop will provide practical, evidence-based guidance to help you support them.


What will you learn?

Across two interactive online sessions we'll cover:

  • Understanding what OCD is (and what it isn't)

  • Why OCD develops and how it affects the brain

  • Common obsessions and compulsions in children and teenagers

  • How OCD differs from anxiety and autism, and how they can co-occur

  • Understanding the OCD cycle

  • Evidence-based treatment, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Why reassurance and family accommodation can unintentionally maintain OCD

  • Practical ways parents can support recovery at home

  • Relapse prevention and maintaining progress

Who delivers the workshop?

The workshop is delivered by our Assistant Psychologist under the clinical supervision of Dr Patricia Barber, Chartered Counselling Psychologist, who will also attend the sessions to provide clinical oversight and answer questions.
